As part of the celebration, our teachers were challenged to Seuss-ify their classroom doors. As you walk the halls of Ducketts Lane this week, watch for favorite Dr. Seuss characters and books like the Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2, and a couple of beautiful truffula trees.
Our teachers will also be reading aloud their favorite stories to classes in celebration of the joy and power of reading aloud. So let's celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday with a BANG! Snow days are no problem when it comes to finding time to read a good book with the people you care about.
Mr. Winner has been connecting with teachers and librarians throughout the country to coordinate some very awesome read aloud opportunities. You can read about the big plans on his recent blog post by clicking HERE.
Each Library Media class will get to Skype with another school. When we do so, we'll read aloud books using WeGiveBooks.org, a free eBook resource "combining the joy of reading with the power of helping each other.
I hope you make time this week to celebrate the joys of reading aloud. I'm thankful to work in a school full of such excellent readers!
Yours page by page,
- Mr. Winner
