We will be installing a Little Free Library in the front of our school for the community to use throughout the summer and for years to come. For those new to the concept, here's an excellent description from the LittleFreeLibrary.org:
What is a Little Free Library? It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share. You can, too!
Our Little Free Library is being built right now and will be installed shortly after the close of the school year, but it's going to look something like this:
We're accepting book donations of your gently used picture books, easy readers, and middle grade novels (basically, anything a Ducketts Lane student might be reading). Donations can be made to the library media center. Mr. Winner will manage all of the materials and make sure our Little Free Library is well stocked.
Our library will operate on the Honor System, meaning we trust that anything that gets borrowed will be returned and that readers will remember that these books are for the whole community.
Consider making a donation of any books you or your household has grown out of. And more importantly, look for our Little Free Library to open very soon with lots and lots of great books to read over the summer!
Yours page by page,
- Mr. Winner
