After a week of travel and professional conferences, I am more eager than ever to set up our DLES library media center. We should be able to begin work by the first of next month and I look forward to sharing images with all of you as our library takes shape. Can't you just picture the brand new furniture? The beautiful book shelves? And, of course, the 12,000+ brand new books just waiting to be loved by you and the other students of DLES!
One book we'll have in our Professional section for teachers is "Teach Math with the Wii", a book I wrote with a colleague from Veterans Elementary (Mrs. Hearn) that is going to be published in October! I attended the ISTE Conference in San Antonio last week and got to take a galley copy* of our book. It makes me excited to think of all of the amazing learning opportunities our DLES students will get to experience this year!
Enjoy your summer and check back next month for a special sneak peek of our brand new library!
Yours page by page,
- Mr. Winner

*A galley is sort of a rough draft of a book. Publishers print them before all of the corrections are made so that others can have a preview of what to expect with the book. A galley still has some mistakes and typos, but it's a close representation of the final product.
